Mr. J.REX is an Assistant Professor at SSMIET in the Civil Engineering disciplines. He is working as a faculty in SSMIET for the past 2 Years 3 Months. He has 7.3Years of Teaching Experience in engineering colleges. His research is mainly focused on Lightweight Concrete.

  • Ph.D. (Pursuing), Anna University Chennai.
  • M.E. (Structural Engineering) from Karunya University, Coimbatore in the year 2009.
  • B.E. (Civil Engineering) from R.V.S college Engineering and Technology, Dindigul in the year 2007.

Area of research is broadly focused on light weight concrete containing light weight aggregates, using light expanded clay aggregates (LECA),perlite and vermiculite are used as a replacement of coarse aggregate and analyzing the behavior through software.

Highlights:

In recent days development of modern construction materials are gaining global attention. Development of light weight concrete is one among such materials to reduce the cost of construction and provide thermal insulation and sound insulation of the building.Lightweight aggregates used in structural lightweight concrete are typically expanded shale, clay or slate materials that have been fired in a rotary kiln to develop a porous structure.In my research work, the main objective is to study the properties, such as compressive strength and tensile strength of light weight concrete containing light weight aggregates. There are three different types of light weight aggregates such as Light Expanded Clay Aggregate (LECA), Perlite,Vermiculite are to be used as partial replacement to coarse aggregates in normal concrete. The comparative studies on variation in flexural strength, deflection are to be done against conventional concrete and to study the behavior of light weight aggregates.
