Overview

Dr. J. ABRAHAM HUDSON MARK is aAssistant Professor in Department of Physics at SSMIET. He is working as a faculty in SSMIET for the past 4Years with 10 Years of Teaching Experience in various institutions.  He holds post graduate in Physics and Philosophy and doctorate in Physics. He has a strong desire in teaching and counselling. His research centers on low dimensional semiconductors and nano -science.

Research

Hudson’s area of research is broadly concentrated on study of spectral properties of II-VI semiconductors.

Semiconductor nanostructures are given due attention for the past few decades it is because they play a major role in opto-electronic and the spin based devices. The electron and the hole are usually confined in those semiconductors having a low energy gap which is surrounded by a different lattice matched high energy band gap material. This confined quasi exciton shows an exotic behavior and novel electrical and optical properties. Moreover, they have large band gap difference eventually produce large band offset and their potential applications in short-wavelength optoelectronic devices. These properties make variety of practical applications and device fabrications for band gap engineering. Excitons in ZnSe-based low dimensional semiconductor heterostructures exhibit strong stability as compared to their own bulk semiconductors, due to the enhancement of the binding energy. Larger exciton binding energies are particularly advantageous for potential applications for fabricating devices operating blue-green wavelengths. Due to these effects excitons are expected to play an important role in many-body processes such as lasing and linear, nonlinear absorption of quantum nanostructures even at room temperature.
